Cambodian National Disability Awards

In recognition of the need for increased awareness and action on disability issues in Cambodia, the CNVLD inaugurated the annual National Cambodian Disability Awards in 2008.

The annual National Cambodian Disability Awards recognise and celebrate outstanding contributions by corporations and institutions to raising awareness and positive action in support of issues of disability in Cambodia.

Nominations have been open to businesses and institutions which have demonstrated a long-term commitment to improving equality, access, education, employment opportunities and human rights for persons with a disability of Cambodia.

The CNVLD is pleased to announce the Winners of the 2009 National Cambodian Disability Awards:

 Corporate Social Responsibility Award: Cellcard

Awarded for:

  • The vision and long-term commitment displayed through sponsorship and promotion of the Cellcard National Volleyball League and the Cambodia Cellcard 2009 WOVD Volleyball World Cup.
  • The volunteering by Cellcard staff in large numbers to assist with the implementation of the Cambodia Cellcard 2009 WOVD Volleyball World Cup.
  • The active assistance in ensuring the sustainability of Cambodian disability sport and subsequent mainstreaming of awareness of disability issues.    

Employer Award: ANZ Royal Bank

Awarded for:

  • The drafting and implementation of internal policies, in line with the Cambodian Law on Disability, of protecting consumer rights and employment of persons with a disability of Cambodia.
  • The sponsorship of the ANZ Royal CNVLD Wheelie Grand Prix and active enthusiasm of staff to volunteer during the nationwide events
  • The subsequent pro-active role ANZ Royal Bank in promoting awareness of disability issues in the workplace and the wider public.

Education Award: Templestowe College, Melbourne, Australia

Awarded for:

  • The 5 year long Templestowe College Community Challenge in Cambodia (TCCCC) programme with over 60 students visiting Cambodia and engaging in community service for the benefit of the athletes with a disability of Cambodia
  • The joint sponsorship of the Takeo ISPP Templestowe Falcons volleyball team, part of the Cellcard National Volleyball League. Templestowe College have for 5 years engaged in community activism and sporting events together with the International School of Phnom Penh to raise funds for their volleyball team.

Media Award: The Phnom Penh Post Sports Section

Awarded for:

  • The consistent high-profile coverage of the 2009 Cellcard National Volleyball League, the ANZ Royal CNVLD Wheelie Grand Prix and the Cambodia Cellcard 2009 WOVD Volleyball World.
  • The improvement in mainstream awareness of the achievements of the athletes with a disability of Cambodia.

The CNVLD congratulates the Winners of the 2009 National Cambodian Disability Awards and thanks all recipients for their positive and pioneering efforts.
